Health Effects of Trichloroethylene

چکیده
Human Exposure Trichloroethylene is a common environmental contaminant at Superfund sites, Department of Defense facilities, and certain manufacturing operations (e.g., aircraft, spacecraft). It has been found at approximately 852 of the 1,416 sites proposed for inclusion on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Priorities List. On the basis of data reported to the EPA Toxic Release Inventory, it was estimated that approximately 42 million pounds of trichloroethylene were released into the environment in 1994 (#Scott and Cogliano, 2000).

Adsorption efficiency of functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotube in sampling trichloroethylene in air
Introduction: Trichloroethylene (TCE) is an industrial solvent which is often used as a degreaser for metal parts. Due to adverse health effects and carcinogenic properties of this solvent, knowing its concentration in the workplace atmosphere is really crucial. Nowadays, carbon nanotubes with high efficiency are being used for sampling of this chemical. Method:</stron...
متن کاملEffects of trichloroethylene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane and carbon tetrachloride on plasma lipoproteins of rats.
Effects of single intraperitoneal administration of trichloroethylene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, and carbon tetrachloride (positive control) on the plasma contents of lipoproteins were investigated in rats. Plasma was fractionated to VLDL, LDL, and HDL by sequential ultracentrifugation. On the administration of carbon tetrachloride at 30 to 1000 mg/kg, VLDL and HDL were reduced dose-dependently, b...
متن کاملEffects of trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene on wild rodents at Edwards Air Force Base, California, USA.
Effects of inhalation of volatilized trichloroethylene (TCE) or perchloroethylene (PCE) were assessed based on the health and population size of wild, burrowing mammals at Edwards Air Force Base (CA, USA). Organic soil-vapor concentrations were measured at three sites with aquifer contamination of TCE or PCE of 5.5 to 77 mg/L and at two uncontaminated reference sites. Population estimates of ka...
متن کاملHuman Health Risk Assessment of Trichloroethylene from Industrial Complex A
This study investigated the human health risks of trichloroethylene from Industrial Complex A. The excessive carcinogenic risks for central tendency exposure were 1.40 × 10(?5) for male and female residents in the vicinity of Industrial Complex A. The excessive cancers risk for reasonable maximum exposure were 2.88 × 10(?5) and 1.97 × 10(?5) for males and females, respectively. These values ind...
متن کاملDiverse manifestations of trichloroethylene.
Trichloroethylene, a solvent used in a variety of industrial settings for more than 60 years, has caused adverse health effects on the central and peripheral nervous system, the skin, liver, kidney, and heart. Three men have shown relatively unusual manifestations secondary to exposure to trichloroethylene in degreasing operations in the jewelry industry. Toxic encephalopathy, hepatitis, and ca...
